Pasternack Enterprises, Inc., a supplier of RF and microwave products, has released new low frequency SMP connectors for applications requiring operating frequencies of 8 GHz or less, including blind-mate interconnect systems and high density coaxial modules.
According to the company, “low frequency 8 GHz SMP connectors carry the same “small-footprint” advantages as their higher-frequency counterparts, but are a more cost effective option when a 40 GHz connector is not needed.” The new SMP connectors “are typically attached to cables assemblies using RG178, RG405, and 0.047” diameter semi-rigid cable. “Beryllium copper (BeCu) and Kovar alloy [are utilized] at critical contact points in the designs [of the connectors], while brass and stainless steel are used in non-contact areas.”
