TDK Corporation has extended its range of EPCOS frame core power line chokes with the addition of the new B82733V* series in a vertical design. This new series complements TDK’s B82733F* series, which is offered in a horizontal design.
The new vertical inductor series has numerous benefits over a horizontal series. Vertical design reduces footprint by more than 30 percent, offers good suppression of interference in both common mode and differential modes, and is ENEC (VDE) and UL approved. The inductors are also RoHS-compliant.
“The chokes are particularly suitable for new designs of switch-mode power supplies with high switching frequencies,” according to the company.
This design is also ideal for situations when space is an issue on a printed circuit board. “With an insertion height of 27 mm, for example, the new chokes have a footprint of just 29 mm x 15.5 mm. This is more than 30 percent smaller than that of the horizontal version which, with a height of 14 mm, requires an area of 26.5 mm x 24.8 mm,” the company added.
The series offers a maximum voltage of 300 V AC, inductance values between 10 mH and 100 mH and can handle rated currents between 0.7 A and 2.3 A at 40 degrees Celsius. The plastic frame and epoxy coating of the inductors also meet all UL94 V-0 requirements.
