The 3M™ ESD Pro Event Detector from 3M Electronic Solutions is a handheld portable instrument that detects and counts discharges and indicates the relative electrical strength of each ESD event on a bar graph display. The device is intended to provide a quick measure of ESD protection – critical factor in sensitive component applications such as electronics assembly and semiconductor, medical, and disk drive device manufacturing. ESD-Pro offers simple-to-use, variable settings of discharge alarm thresholds and detects and counts only those ESD events that exceed the user-set threshold. ESD Pro can measure multiple, consecutive discharges in an ESD event. ESD Pro’s proprietary waveform analysis in its charge device model (CDM) mode rejects most non-ESD EMI events to provide accurate detection of legitimate discharges in noisy environments. This feature is particularly useful in manufacturing and other noisy environments where EMI from motors, solenoids, and relays is commonplace. Learn more about the detector at the 3M website.
