Despite being warned for decades, fliers are refusing to turn off electronic devices during takeoff and landing. USA Today’s investigation included reviewing “more than 25 papers by electronics experts; presentations; papers, and advisories by government aviation officials in the USA, Canada, and the United Kingdom and Europe” and they surveyed “more than 900 frequent fliers” as well as “conducted interviews with Boeing, NASA, and independent EMI experts.” Their findings show that devices emit signals which are known to interfere with cockpit instruments and flight systems.
