First Revision to Shunt Power Capacitors Guide Now Available

Standards

IEEE has published a revision to IEEE 1036™, “IEEE Guide for Application of Shunt Power Capacitors.” This is the first revision to the standard since 1992. IEEE 1036 applies to the use of 50 and 60 Hz shunt power capacitors rated 2400 Vac and above, and assemblies of capacitors. It includes guidelines for the application, protection, and ratings of equipment for the safe and reliable utilization of shunt power capacitors. The guide also covers applications that range from simple unit utilization to complex bank situations.
