The European Telecommunications Institute (ETSI) has issued ETSI TR 102 655 V1.1.1, which deals with electromagnetic compatibility and radio spectrum matters. This document defines new requirements for radio frequency spectrum usage for low-power active medical implants and their peripheral radio control systems. The report also proposes a concept that should permit a harmonized regulatory frame for these systems and provides a basis for a license-exempt arrangement, preferably on a secondary allocation. The entire 55-page report can be viewed on the ETSI website.
