Israel has banned imports of Apple Inc.’s iPad and Princeton University in New Jersey has blocked 20 percent of the products on campus, citing concerns the powerful gadget’s wireless signals could disrupt other devices. Israeli customs officials said they have already confiscated about 10 of the lightweight tablet computers since Israel announced the new regulations. The ban prevents anyone — even tourists — from bringing iPads into Israel until officials certify that they comply with local transmitter standards.Meanwhile, Princeton University is blocking the devices because of “malfunctions that can affect the entire school’s computer system.” In a report, Princeton said the iPad causes DHCP client malfunctions, which basically means the tablet causes interference for other devices using the school’s wireless network. George Washington University in Washington, D.C. has also experienced network problems with the iPad, though not related to DHCP malfunctions. These devices aren’t blocked by the university, but the authentication issues mean users users aren’t able to log on with the iPad or iPhone.Read more from Yahoo! News.Read the Princeton report.
