The UK’s Christ College Cambridge has marked the 150 anniversary of its distinguished alumnus Sir Jagadis Chandra Bose. A native of India who came up in 1882, Bose is remembered for his pioneering work in such disparate fields as electromagnetic waves and plant life. Special features of the celebration included the unveiling of a bust of Bose, a lecture by George Sudarshan on Bose’s work on radio waves, and the announcement of the JC Bose Scholarship, which will be awarded each year to several students from India. Other distinguished alumni to have been honored include Paradise Lost poet John Milton and Origin of Species author Charles Darwin, whose 200th birthday will be celebrated next year.See the official announcement on Christ College website.
