A professor at Wakeforest University’s Centre for Nanotechnology and Molecular Materials has developed a system that allows users to charge their own cell phones with their body heat. The “Power Felt” allows phones to remain charged up to 20 percent longer using body heat as electricity to charge the phone.
“I have an excess of electrons on one side, and a depletion of excess electrons underneath my hands, so I have a voltage between the two which is called the thermal voltage. And that’s what Power Felt generates,” Professor David Carroll said.
The system can also be used in emergency situations; using human’s electricity to power radios or lighting instruments.
