The Obama Administration recently awarded grants to 100 smart grid projects, a result of an allocation of funds to smart grid projects in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. President Obama announced the awards during a tour of a smart grid facility in Arcadia, Fla. The total amount of funds to be disbursed by the federal government is $3.4 billion with each award recipient providing matching funding, representing more than $8 billion of investment in the Smart Grid.Read more about the Smart Grid from the U.S. Department of Energy.
