Colorado-based Aeroflex, Inc. has announced the purchase of privately held Gaisler Research AB of Gothenburg, Sweden. Aeroflex supplies RF and broadband technology to the aerospace, defense, and communications industries. Gaisler has developed a range of SPARC-compliant synthesizable processors that are available under free licensing terms. Known as Leon, the processor architecture is used in European space applications. The Gaisler core design team has in-house facilities for microprocessor, ASIC, and FPGA-based design systems.
