(July 15, 2016) Recently, the Auburn Journal reported a Foresthill, California man has been arrested for allegedly flying a drone that interfered with aircraft fighting the Trailhead Fire in the Sierra foothills.
“Eric Wamser, 57, was arrested Friday and booked into the Placer County jail. He is charged with interfering with firefighting operations, a misdemeanor,” reported the Auburn Journal.
“Wamser’s arrest is the first by CalFire investigators of a drone operator suspected of complicating firefighting efforts, said Daniel Berlant, chief public information officer for CalFire,” according to the Auburn Journal.
Officials said “Wamser posted fire images captured by the drone on Facebook, allowing investigators to locate and arrest him.”
