MiBiz reports Grand Valley State University (GVSU) recently received a $300,000 donation from the DTE Energy Foundation to expand its Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Center.
“The center will use the donation to purchase testing equipment and make facility improvements,” according to MiBiz.
“Currently, West Michigan businesses can use the center to help test electronic devices before they enter the market. The center pairs engineering students with the companies to meet initial compliance and testing requirements,” MiBiz explained.
Mark Stiers, president and COO of DTE Gas, said, “We understand how important it is for West Michigan businesses to be able to test their products close to home, saving companies thousands of dollars in research and development costs. This lab also provides an excellent opportunity for Grand Valley engineering students to get hands-on experience, preparing them to power Michigan’s economy in the future.”
