The European Space Agency (ESA) is being forced to abandon their 35m tracking facility near Perth, Australia, due to encroaching urban sprawl and interference from television news vans. They’ll be relocating 140 km further southeast to New Norcia.
The 35m dish will be replaced with a newer technology 4.5m dish with wider field of view that has the ability to track low Earth orbiting satellites launched from ESA’s spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.
