President Obama has just signed the E-Label Act into law. With this new act, the FCC required label that is typically found on the back of electronic devices will not be required to be placed directly on devices. The FCC will now be required to post the label information online.
“The bill applies to devices with integrated displays — smart phones, tablets, TVs — and directs the FCC to allow electronics manufacturers to display FCC-required information on those screens instead of having to be etched in or affixed onto increasingly small physical real estate.”
Not including the labels directly on electronic devices will save manufacturing time and increase the attractiveness of the devices.
