Ironwood Electronics introduces its new high performance elastomer socket, the SG-MLF-7084. This socket is for a 0.4mm pitch QFN package and is designed for a package size of 6mm x 4.5mm. The SG-MLF-7084 socket operates at bandwidths up to 30 GHz with less than a 1dB insertion loss and has a temperature range of -35 to +100 degrees Celsius.
The socket also offers high performance and low inductance. “The pin self inductance is 0.118 nH and mutual inductance of 0.025 nH. Capacitance to ground is 0.229 pF and mutual capacitance is 0.025pF. Current capacity is 2 amps per pin,” according to the company.
Soldering is not needed to mount the socket onto the target PCB, thus offering simple installation. The socket also uses the smallest footprint in the industry, according to the company. This small footprint allows capacitors, inductors and resistors to be placed close to devices for tuning.
